“And how are the Children?  Building Resilience through Literacy”

Thursday, October 3, 8-11:15 AM Paxton Keeley Elementary

Provided by Mid-Missouri Literacy and Languages for All (MMLLA)

Looking for hands on, practical literacy strategies backed by research to help your students grow as readers and as humans? We have the session for you.  This morning’s conference brings together a respected literacy university professor and former elementary teacher, Dr. Michele Myers (Wake Forest University), for the keynote followed by some of CPSs talented teachers for small group sessions. Dr. Myers will teach us about building resilience in children through daily, literacy-rich routines and activities. (She has collaborated with Linda Mayes, MD, part of the Yale Child Study Center, for the research basis supporting this work.)

She will be followed by two rounds of shorter sessions which emphasize the curricular nature of such work
